ONE
DAY SATURDAY WORKSHOPS These classes are great for both beginners and more advanced artists. There is so much we all can learn by studying great art from the past. On each Saturday, we will work step-by-step through a painting by the following famous artists: *** Feb 20 - Lawren Harris (Group of 7) "North Shore Lake Superior 1926" by Lawren Harris This famous painting is a study in smooth gradations and simplification of form. Plan to work aproximately 10" x 12". Don't forget to bring some of your own landscape references in case you finish the demonstrated painting early. *** Mar 20 - A.J. Casson (Group of 7) Capture the drama of the windswept pine in this very Canadian painting. Lovers of Canadian parks such as Algonquin and Killarny will appreciate this one. Plan to work approximately 16" x 20" *** Apr 24 - Vincent van Gogh "Starry
Night" by Vincent van Gogh The sky in this famous painting feels like it is alive with movement. Plan to work approximately 16" x 20". *** May 29 - Claude Monet "Cliff & Sailboats at Pourville, 1882" by Claude Monet Monet loved the sea and did many paintings at the shore. This one has a sunny feeling with the white sailboats and freely stylized waves. Plan to work 16" x 20". *** Jun 19 - F.H. Varley (Group of 7) "Stormy Weather, Georgian Bay" by F.H. Varley The Group of Seven loved our Canadian wilderness and you can almost feel the wind in the sweep of branches and waves in this dynamic painting. Plan to work 16" x 20". *** Cost
