ONE DAY SATURDAY WORKSHOPS
A BRUSH WITH GREATNESS*
All new paintings!
9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Bring a bag lunch)

These classes are great for both beginners and more advanced artists. There is so much we all can learn by studying great art from the past. On each Saturday, we will work step-by-step through a painting by the following famous artists:

***

Feb 20 - Lawren Harris (Group of 7)

"North Shore Lake Superior 1926" by Lawren Harris

This famous painting is a study in smooth gradations and simplification of form. Plan to work aproximately 10" x 12". Don't forget to bring some of your own landscape references in case you finish the demonstrated painting early.

***

Mar 20 - A.J. Casson (Group of 7)

"White Pine" by A.J. Casson

Capture the drama of the windswept pine in this very Canadian painting. Lovers of Canadian parks such as Algonquin and Killarny will appreciate this one. Plan to work approximately 16" x 20"

***

Apr 24 - Vincent van Gogh

"Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh
(We will do a cropped version.)

The sky in this famous painting feels like it is alive with movement. Plan to work approximately 16" x 20".

***

May 29 - Claude Monet

"Cliff & Sailboats at Pourville, 1882" by Claude Monet

Monet loved the sea and did many paintings at the shore. This one has a sunny feeling with the white sailboats and freely stylized waves. Plan to work 16" x 20".

***

Jun 19 - F.H. Varley (Group of 7)

"Stormy Weather, Georgian Bay" by F.H. Varley

The Group of Seven loved our Canadian wilderness and you can almost feel the wind in the sweep of branches and waves in this dynamic painting. Plan to work 16" x 20".

For this class, it is recommended that students bring a camera to take photos of the setups. Cost: $240. + 12. GST = $252. Expect to occasionally chip in a toonie on flowers, just on a couple of classes.

Back by popular request - 1 WEEK COURSE AUG 23 TO 27
PAINTING BOLD & FREE
New techniques (some collage!) plus previous favourites 9:30 am to 3 p.m. daily
Bring a bag lunch

This class is designed to help you loosen up, get that creative spirit soaring, and have a lot of fun with your paint. Students bring their own painting supplies. The techniques work best with fluid acrylic or watercolour paint, so please bring one of those 2 recommended paint types. However, some watermixable oil paint (no turpentine allowed in class) and tube acrylic may be integrated into your work if you wish. Students will also need some Liquitex white acrylic gesso plus a small jar of gloss acrylic gel medium, and watercolourists should have cheaper brushes to use with these. Students bring their own references (bring lots since some may suit certain techniques better than others), any subject except portraits.
Cost: $325. + 16.50 GST = $341.50

NOTE: NEW LOCATION FOR THIS COURSE:
Hillside Church
250 Commissions Rd E., London
